Our Summer Sessions begins June 14!
Public school-based therapy services are often only available during the school year, which leaves children going several months without receiving the therapy that they need. Fortunately, Speech Therapy Zone is here to help!
If your child currently receives speech and language therapy services through his or her public school, he or she may be a perfect candidate for our summer program! No evaluation is needed to receive summer program services as long as you provide us a copy of the child's current and valid Individualized Educational Program (IEP). Our therapy will focus on the skills that are targeted in his or her school-based therapy, which increases generalization, decreases regression of skills, and may move your child closer to exiting from special education!
How to sign up:
Our summer program runs from June 15-August 15. Limited spots are available. Contact us today!
The average child age 8 and under in the United States uses more than three personal tech devices—such as a tablet, smartphone, or video game console—at home, according to a new poll of parents conducted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). With even the youngest kids now “connected” via such technology, it is important to remember to manage tech time so it doesn’t overtake time for talking with children.
Talking to children in their first years of life sets them up for future academic success. The easiest and most effective way that children learn is simply by talking. Studies have proven the link between the number and variety of words a child hears and later academic achievement.
Create tech-free times. Find at least one or two opportunities during the day—at the dinner table, for example—for everyone to disconnect. Mealtime is a prime opportunity for conversation. Make a commitment and have everyone check their devices at the kitchen door.

Is It Normal for My Child to...?
Warning Signs of Language Delay
Is your child's use and understanding of language where it's supposed to be? Click the link above to find out!
If your child exhibits any of these warning signs, contact Speech Therapy Zone as soon as possible.
Too many people adopt a "wait and see" approach when children have language difficulties. This means they fall further and further behind, lose valuable intervention time, and develop bad language habits. Language difficulties early on in life can often lead to difficulties in school, bad behaviors, and trouble making and keeping friends.
Contact Speech Therapy Zoe today if your child is displaying any of these warning signs to schedule an appointment.
May is Better Speech and Hearing Month!

SCREENINGSpeech and language development is a useful indicator in determining later school success. Early detection and intervention offers the most promising chances for improvement. If you are concerned about your child, a brief screening (20 mins) of sound production, language comprehension and expressive communication can be completed in office to determine if a detailed evaluation is necessary.
Preschool Directors can contact us for on-site group screenings of 3 year olds and up.
Parents interested in their child being screened can contact us to schedule an in-office evaluation at our Huntersville office.
